Description

A genuine German Third Reich period early SA 2-piece dagger hanger, dating from the early 30s, and leading up to World War 2. This early variant features the desirable “crocodile-nose” clip, noticeably slimmer than the broader versions.

Leather:

The leather remains in very solid condition, retaining its correct early brown SA tone, There is some light, honest wear consistent with age, but nothing that compromises strength. The stitching on the belt loop is intact and tight.

Fittings:

The fittings on the hanger show a nice patina, and are the correct early style used before World War 2, including a nickel silver crocodile nose clip, and a nickel silver oval adjustment buckle, of which both are in good condition. The belt loop has a steel stippled D-ring, a feature often seen on German fittings.

Overall:

A very good period early example of an SA 2-piece hanger, showing all the desirable pre-war features.

Historical Note:

Before the outbreak of World War Two, early SA dagger hangers were produced with solid nickel hardware to match the nickel fittings of early SA daggers. From 1935-1936 onwards production shifted to plated alloys as materials and manufacturing methods changed. Today, these early nickel examples are more sought after by collectors.
