Description
Here we have a German K98 bayonet with matching numbers and a 1940 dated leather frog.
The bakelite grips are undamaged and in good condition, held in place by two screw bolts. The rifle retaining button is in good working order and is waffen amt stamped. There are also two more waffen amt stamps to the rear of the upper pommel.
The blade has been sharpened and has around 85% of the original blueing remaining. The numbers on the front side of the blade read “7684”, these are the same numbers we see on the scabbard. On the rear of the blade it reads “41 asw”, this tells us the year of manufacture was 1941 and made by “E & F HORSTER”. The scabbard overall is in good shape apart from one small dent on the rear.
All the metal fittings on this dagger show the same age and colour, with the lower scabbard ball being also waffen amt stamped. The leather frog is good and strong with all stitching and rivets in place and dated 1940.
