Vintage East German Narva Multi-Colour Signalling Torch Lamp

Description

An original vintage Narva multi-colour signal lamp, believed to date from the Cold War period and likely of East German / DDR manufacture. Designed as a portable signalling torch, this example features a black metal body with sliding colour filters, allowing the lamp to display different signal colours including red, green, blue and clear/white.

Pieces of this type were commonly associated with railway, industrial, transport, civil defence or military-style signalling use, where a compact handheld lamp with selectable colours would have been useful for directing movement, marking positions, or giving simple visual signals. The Narva branding, construction style and internal electrical components suggest a post-WW2, mid-to-late 20th century date rather than wartime manufacture.

The lamp remains a very displayable example, with its coloured filter mechanism, rear strap and internal battery compartment present. It shows age-related wear, surface marks and signs of use/storage throughout, as shown in the photos. The lamp has not been tested, so working order cannot be guaranteed. It is sold as it came, with the included older batteries, which are not believed to be original, and a spare bulb. It does appear to have been hand marked on the back, as the photos clearly show.

A nice Cold War-era signalling piece, ideal for collectors of DDR equipment, railwayana, industrial lighting, vintage torches or post-war military-style field equipment.
