Description
An original WW2 British Army First Field Dressing, manufactured by Vernon & Co. Ltd., Preston and clearly dated August 1944.
First Field Dressings were issued to British servicemen as part of their personal medical equipment and were intended to provide immediate treatment for wounds sustained in the field. Compact and individually wrapped, dressings of this type were carried by soldiers throughout the war and formed an essential part of British military first aid provision.
This example retains its original cotton outer cover, with the manufacturer’s details and August 1944 date stamp remaining clearly visible. The dressing remains unopened and displays very well, making it an attractive example for collectors of WW2 militaria, military medical equipment, or British Army field gear.
August 1944 places the manufacture of this dressing during a significant period of the war, shortly after the Normandy landings and during the Allied advance across France, providing an interesting wartime context to the piece.
The dressing remains in good original condition with only light age-related storage wear. The printed markings remain strong and legible, the pull cord is still present, and the package retains a pleasing full shape. A solid, honest example of an original wartime British Army medical item.
