Description

During WW1, the Gurkhas were deployed on various fronts, including in Europe, the Middle East and Gallipoli. Renowned for their bravery, toughness and combat effectiveness, the Gurkhas left an incredible mark on history warfare.

This listing features a rare early Kukri knife complete with its original WW1 scabbard. The knife’s blade measures 35cm and is in very good condition for it’s age and period.
The blade bears several markings that gives us valuable information about the item. The first marking, “D H W”, identifies the maker, a manufacturer known for producing Kukris between 1918 and 1919. The “I G” stamp indicates that the knife was issued by the Indian government, while the “II” tells us this is a MK2 model, followed by The date 1919 and number 14. The leather scabbard also has some markings and is dated 1918.

Kukri knives have become very hard to find from this period.
