Description

WW1 US M1917 Bayonet & Scabbard (Remington)

This is a good example of a US M1917 Bayonet, manufactured by Remington arms, the historic American company founded by Eliphalet Remington in 1816, New York.

Blade & Markings.
The fullered blade is in very good condition, showing no signs of damage and tapering cleanly to a sharp tip. The right ricasso is stamped with “US” and associated inspection marks, while the left side bears the date and “Remington” inside a circular stamp.

Grips & Hilt.
The grips are made of dark walnut and remain in excellent condition, with no cracks and showing only minimal wear. Each side of the grips features two lateral grooves, which are secured by two flush fitting screw bolts. The rifle retaining button is fully functional.

Scabbard.
The bayonet comes complete with its original brown leather scabbard, which is also in good condition. All stitching remains tight and intact. The blackened steel mounts are firmly secured by their original staples. The bayonet fits the scabbard perfectly.

Overall, a very nice bayonet.
