Description

This Bestway War Knitting magazine, issue No 68, has patterns for vests, socks, gloves and other garments. During the 40’s, it only cost 6 pence. Imagine that. The patterns included in this magazine are now popular amount the vintage knitting crowd, but during wartime, this sort of magazine was useful and part of the ‘mend-and-make-do’ mentality that was pushed.

It is very worn, which is reflected in the price. The bottom staple holding the pages has gone (though rusted, the top one is still there), but all pages are here. The paper itself even ‘feels’ old to touch. Despite the spine of this magazine missing its staples, the pages inside are actually in good condition. All too often people like to make their own notes by writing directly on the pages but this one has none of that.
