Description

Produced by Ridgways in England, this wall plate shows Field Marshal Gerald Pau. It is VERY difficult to find out information about this man. The Imperial War Museum has one of these – but no others we have found. See here https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30087729

The piece itself is in excellent condition however, with the three glaze holding marks on the back (see photos) and two holes at the top for mounting on a wall. On the back there’s a nice bold, clear stamp reading, “published during the Great War 1914. Ridgways England”. It has no significant chips, or pieces missing but the real wonder is the crazing (cracking) on it. Usually, pieces of this age have a lot of crazing due to being left out in sunlight, or from using natural glazes but this one is in great condition, the crazing isn’t very noticeable at all.

Given how difficult it is to find information about this man, this piece is perfect for anyone who enjoys researching historical figures, military history or family trees. It also makes it VERY rare indeed.
