Description

A genuine General Service Medal 1918–1962 with Malaya clasp, correctly named on the rim to 23264160 Pte H. Buttery, RAOC (Royal Army Ordnance Corps).

The medal remains in good overall condition and is complete with ribbon. The naming is clear and easy to read, and the Malaya clasp is firmly attached.

Overall

An honest, named British campaign medal awarded for service during the Malayan Emergency. The medal shows age and service wear consistent with its history, together with a small knock to the lower edge, as photographed. Overall, it displays well and would make a good addition to a British campaign medal collection.

Historical Note

The Malaya clasp was awarded for qualifying service during the Malayan Emergency, the conflict fought between Commonwealth forces and communist insurgents in Malaya between 1948 and 1960. Personnel of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps played an important support role in maintaining the supply of equipment, weapons and stores during the campaign.
