Many individuals joining the S.A. (sturmabteilung) were World War 1 veterans. These veterans were often placed in the reserve ranks rather than the main S.A. unit. As a mark of their service, they were issued membership stick pins like the one described here, which were intended to be worn on the lapel of their civilian clothing.

This particular Stick pin is in good condition, showing a nice patina. The reverse side is marked “Ges Gesch”, indicating it is a legally protected design in Germany.
