Description
Here we have a Japanese Arisaka type 30 bayonet with hooked quillon and leather frog.
These bayonets were manufactured from 1897 to 1945 and are commonly associated with the Arisaka rifles used by the Imperial Japanese army during the early to mid-20th century, particularly in WW2.
The wooden grips exhibit some light wear but no damage and are held securely in place by two screws. The rifle retaining button is fully operational and there is a seven-digit number to the upper pommel. The single-edged blade shows general wear, but overall remaining clean and bright and also showing the Kokura arsenal trademark and small inspection stamp on the ricasso.
The front of the steel scabbard shows wear but no damage, however, the rear does show several indentations and pitting. The scabbard is fitted with a hard to find brown leather frog with several Japanese markings stamped on the back. All the stitching is intact but it does have some of the buckle retaining leather strap missing.
