Description

This is a haze screen, made by Kodak in Great Britain between 1938 and 1946 and used by the RAF for observation (mainly by coastal command crews). The different coloured filters were used depending on the situation. Yellow is for mist for example. It has a wooden frame and integrated handle which surrounds the filters. There’s light wear on the handle (painted black) and a tiny bit of delamination in the middle filter. At the bottom there’s a marking which reads: “KODAK” HAZESCREEN FOR ARIAL OBSERVATION KODAK Ltd. MADE IN Gt BRITAIN. These haze screens played a crucial role in improving the quality and usability of aerial photographs takenduring reconnaissance missions. These are VERY rare now and considering its age it’s impressive the minor delamination can only be seen on one side.
