Description

The Gurkhas were renowned for their bravery, toughness and combat effectiveness.

This military-issued MK2 model Kukri knife, dated 1926, is presented in its original leather scabbard. The impressive blade is in very good condition and features several markings that reveal its history.
The first marking, “Co,” indicates that it was made at the Cossipore arsenal, a facility better known for its artillery pieces. The second marking, “IG,” singnifes that the knife was issued by the Indian goverment. The date “1921” is also present along with the number 26. It’s likely that this knife was sent back to the factory for refurbishment in 1926, leading to the updated date.

The wooden grips display a rich brown colour and are in excellent condition, with minimal signs of wear. The front side of the leather scabbard is in excellent shape, bearing markings that include the date 1926. The rear side of the scabbard towards the chape shows some wear and damage to the leather, as visible in photos.
The bottom chape is securely attached and also displays some markings including the war arrow.

This is a very nice example, displaying lots of markings.
