Description
An original German SA dagger two-piece hanger comprising the belt loop section with D-ring together with the desirable upper popper-stud suspension piece. This is the sought-after portion of the three-piece hanger set and far less often encountered offered separately as a matching two-piece assembly.
Both sections remain in excellent condition, showing only light honest wear from age and use. The brown leather is supple and strong throughout, with the metal fittings retaining an untouched, period look.
Hilt & Grips
The upper grip loop section, which wraps around the wooden SA grip beneath the crossguard, retains its working popper stud, which fastens correctly. Stitching to this section remains intact and the leather is sound. There is also a stamped marking to the inside of this section, with digits visible, which will be shown clearly in the photographs.
Overall
The belt loop section retains its D-ring and original riveted construction, all appearing solid and untouched. While offered here as a two-piece hanger rather than a complete three-piece set, this includes the most desirable component and would make an excellent addition to an SA dagger, particularly for a collector seeking to complete a set or upgrade an example.
A hard-to-find original two-piece grouping, offered exactly as found.
Historical Note
Three-piece hangers were used on early SA daggers, with the upper popper suspension section often the first component to go missing over time, making surviving original examples especially sought after by collectors today.
