WW2 Wooden Training Grenade
SKU:
Added by : Andrew Robinson
Description
Wooden grenades allowed for realistic training exercises without the risk of accidental explosions. This was crucial for ensuring that soldiers could practice repeatedly and gain confidence in handling live grenades, used by many military forces around the world during WW2, most notably by British and German forces.
This is a British one, and has original pin, as well as the spoon painted red, and ringpull. Obviously, made from wood and painted, it has no working chemicals or notable moving parts, though the pin can be removed. This is actually how they were used in training. You’d pull the pin and throw.
The spoon has been pinned in place so, this grenade was more for training in terms of handling and throwing. Despite its age, there are no severe signs of wear and no signs of damage, however some of the paint has worn off through the years and there are some minor dents which are from the grenade landing on the ground.
