Description

Here we have a nice example of a German WW1 sawback bayonet.

The blade is bright and in good condition, there is some light staining to the blade, but I do believe this could be cleaned up better if the next owner decides to do so. We personally prefer to leave all items as we find them.

All nineteen teeth are sharp and in good condition and the tip of the blade forms a good point, there is also an inspection stamp on the spine of the blade. The maker is Bontgen & Sabin Solingen. This is one of the more less common makers we see.

The wooden grips are in good undamaged condition and there is an inspection stamp to the rear of the top pommel. The flash guard shows no signs of damage and the rifle retaining button is in full working order.

The scabbard is the correct type for this model bayonet and is nice and straight showing no indentations.

The bayonet fits the scabbard perfectly, which is something I always like to see.

Sawback bayonets have always been highly collectable, this in turn has made them harder to come by.
