WW1 British Medal Trio.
Name: PTE J.W. Rigby
Reg No: 1806
Regiment: 1st Bn Gloucestershire Regiment
Medals: 1914 Star & Clasp. Defence Medal. Victory Medal.

Pte. J.W. Rigby was wounded in the First World War and later sustained injuries from shrapnel in 1940 while standing in Alvin street, Gloucester, during the battle of Britain. At the time he was watching a dogfight unfold in the skies above the city.

The Rigby family was well known in Gloucester, running a fish stall in Eastgate Market for over 50 years. His Sons Alec, John, and Edwin continued the family’s legacy while also serving in the armed forces during World War 2.

The three medals show a nice aged patina, and interesting story.
