Description
An original British WWI Pattern 1914 bayonet frog, offered in honest, untouched condition. This is not a pristine example, but a genuine service-used piece showing clear period wear throughout, exactly as one would expect from a frog that has seen long wartime use. Importantly, it remains unembellished and unrestored, retaining its original character without modern treatments or enhancements.
Leather
Heavy grained leather, showing consistent age, wear, and natural surface dryness. The leather remains sound, with no splitting or structural failure, and has not been treated with oils, waxes, or preservatives. The surface wear and patina are entirely honest and untouched.
Construction & Fittings
All original rivets remain in place and secure. Original stitching is intact throughout, with no repairs or replacement stitching observed. The retaining strap and buckle are present and original, showing expected wear but remaining functional.
Overall
A solid, complete example with clear service history evident through its wear. While not a near-mint example, pieces such as this appeal to collectors who value original uncleaned items.
