Description
Coulaux & Cie was a renowned French manufacturer based in Klingenthal. They were valued for producing high quality swords, sword sticks, sabers and other edged weapons from the late 18th century into the 20th century.
This sword stick is still encased in its original leather, which remains intact despite signs of wear. Impressively 100% of the stitching is still present, along with the original buffer pad.
The blade is square shaped, in very good condition and tapers down to a fine point. It features distinct markings on both sides: one side is inscribed with “COULAUX & CIE” alongside two trademark logos, while the opposite side bears “KLINGENTHAL” accompanied by two additional trademark logos.
I’ve owned many sword sticks over the years but never one by this maker.
a very interesting item.
