Description
Bayonet collectors are aware that double-maker marked blades are rare, but finding one with both marks on the same side is exceptionally unusual. This is attributed to various factors, primarily subcontracting or outsourcing by manufacturers to meet increased demand during production.
The bayonet is in very good condition, with an excellent blade that bears an inspection stamp on the spine. The makers marks read: “J.A. HENCKLS ZWILLINGSWERK” and “ANKLER-WERKE BIELEFELD.”
The wooden grip plates are in excellent condition, featuring an attractive medium-brown tone, and the crossguard and upper pommel are in similarly fine shape. The rifle retaining button works as intended.
The scabbard is undented and comes with a period-correct leather frog, dated 1915, making this a fine example of a WW1 bayonet.
