Description
This is a privately purchased WW1 German imperial trench knife, mostly used by German officers. This particular design was based on the German military short bayonets of the period.
The metal scabbard is in good, undamaged condition and retains 85% of the black paint.
The leather to the scabbard is in good condition and the retaining popper stud is present and in working order. There is one rivet missing that attaches the leather to the scabbard, but this could be replaced.
The blade has been sharpened and does show wear, but overall it still looks reasonably clean. The maker is Carl Eickhorn with the early back to back squirrels trademark .
The finely chequered grips unfortunately both have a crack running through them, but they are still held firmly in position. This has been reflected in the price.
