Added by : Mark Raynsford
Description
The KS98 was manufactured around 1902 and made throughout WW1. This variation comes with wooden grips. No flashguard and is dated 1914 on the spine of the blade. Inspection stamps are present on the hilt, crossguard and spine of the blade. The blade does show pitting with the tip being rounded off. Maker is C.G.HAENEL SUHL. The grips do show some indentations but no cracks in the wood.
We normally see these bayonets with metal scabbards, but this bayonet came to us as you see it in this leather scabbard. We sell our items uncleaned and as we find them, we prefer to give the next owner the personal option to clean it. The leather to the scabbard is in good condition with all stitching intact.
Sawbacks have always been desirable to collectors and in turn become harder to find.
