A wartime A.R.P 1939 dated gas rattle. Gas rattles were used to give the warning of a gas attack, while bells were used to give the all clear.

On the top of the rattle it is stamped A.R.P W.CLEMENTS & SONS 1939.

Although the rattle is in working order, it does show some damage to the back. I have taken this into consideration in the price.
