Description

This is an original WW2 British 12 Bore solid ball cartridge manufactured by Eley Kynoch Ltd, retaining its distinctive red paper case and brass head.

The headstamp reads “ELEY KYNOCH 12 12” with the ICI roundel, identifying it as wartime British commercial production. During WW2, 12 bore solid ball cartridges such as this were commonly associated with guard duties, airfield protection, factory security and Home Guard units tasked with local defence across Britain. The solid projectile is clearly visible at the mouth of the cartridge, giving this example strong display appeal.

The red paper case remains structurally sound with honest age-related wear consistent with its 80+ year history, and the brass head shows natural patina. The primer has been drilled and the cartridge is inert for collection and display purposes. The brass head is tarnished, but has no dents or damage.

A representative example of wartime British shotgun ammunition connected to domestic defence and the wider Home Front effort.
