Description
These kind of gas masks were given out to civilians during WW2. This one comes in a leather round case, complete with strap that’s been marked “C. Hickson 17 Hartington villas Hove” and “EJFR/88/1 to the left of that. All stitching is intact apart from one section (see photos). Even tough there’s some stitching missing, the case is as solid as can be. The leather remains supple.
The gas mask itself is marked as “medium” in size, and also has been marked with “Avon 2-39” as well. The rubber is very supple, showing no signs of wear or cracking. The viewing window has no holes or tears and aside from a dent in the opening of the filter it’s in excellent condition. The straps work as they’re meant to and are made from the usual herringbone fabric and are too, in excellent condition.
