Here we have an extremely nice army officers dress dagger made by Eickhorn, which was one of the foremost manufactures of these daggers and known  for their high quality craftmanship and attention to detail.

The grip on this dagger is one of the most sought after by collectors and not a colour we see very often, it’s a beautiful deep red to the front but blends into a more orange colour to the back. This is a great example of how celluloid grips change colour over the years  due to the environment they are kept in.

All the metal fittings on this dagger show no damage and are typical high quality Eickhorn fittings made inhouse at the Eickhorn factory. The scabbard bands, pommel and crossguard really show off the attention to detail used in making these daggers. We can see that this dagger has not been cleaned for many years and has therefor developed a lovely dark patina which compliments the grip. The blade does show some light surface staining but it also has full cross grain running the length of the blade both sides and forming a good tip.

The knot is in perfect condition and it comes complete with a good set of deluxe straps with decorative buckles and clips and leather tabs at the top fitting.
