Description
This k98 Bayonet is in exceptional condition, making it difficult to upgrade.
The blade retains 100% of its original bluing, has a perfect tip, and remains unsharpened. I would confidently rate this blade as in mint condition. The maker’s mark on the ricasso reads ” E.u.F. Horster”, with a spine date of 38. The reverse side is numbered 196.
The dark coloured bakelite grip plates are in excellent condition, secured with two screw bolts. The cross guard, flash guard, and upper pommel are also undamaged, with all original bluing intact, and the rifle retaining stud is in working order.
The scabbard shows very minimal wear and is undamaged, retaining 99% of its bluing. The scabbard’s maker is the smae as the blade, “EuF Horster”, although the numbers on the scabbard “5879” do not match those on the blade.
As a finishing touch, this bayonet comes with an unusual frog in good condition, different from the more often typical frog often seen with K98 bayonets.
This is an excellent example of the classic K98 bayonet.
