The Bakelite grips are a nice reddish colour and are attached to the hilt by two screws. The spring loaded button is in working order and there is the usual two waffenamt stamps to the hilt.

The blade has all its blueing remaining apart from the edge which has been sharpened, and in doing so the tip has lost its point. Blade is dated 43ffc , this tells us the maker is by Freidrich Herder & Sohn 1943. Front of the blade is numbered 5688.

Scabbard is undented and nice and straight. Front of the scabbard is numbered 5688 and back 43ffc. The ball is waffenamt stamped and the scabbard screw is present.
The bayonet comes with a good condition k98 frog that has its stitching intact, and all four rivets are present.
