WW2 German K98 Leather Bayonet Frog – Excellent Condition

Description

A very good example of a WWII German K98 leather bayonet frog.

These frogs were produced both before and during the war years, which can make precise dating difficult in the absence of maker or date stamps. The leather frog remains in very decent condition and would pair well with a quality K98 bayonet.

The leather remains strong and supple with no rips or tears present. The front section where the scabbard lug passes through is particularly well preserved and has retained its original shape nicely. The stitching throughout remains intact and tight, showing none of the loose or failing thread sometimes encountered on these frogs. All four original rivets remain present and secure.

The fastening strap which secures around the upper section of the bayonet grips remains in very good condition and functions exactly as intended.

Overall
A strong, original and well-preserved K98 frog with excellent leather, intact stitching and all original rivets present. A fine example that would sit perfectly alongside a quality bayonet.
