WW2 German K98 Leather Frog – Gersdorf – 1942 – Excellent Condition

Added by : Mark Raynsford
Description
Original WWII German K98 leather frog stamped Gersdorf 1942, both of which are clearly legible. Above this, the maker’s mark is partially visible and worn, with only some lettering remaining. While the stamp cannot be read in full, the visible letter forms are consistent with E. O. Götze & Sohn, a documented German leather manufacturer known to have supplied wartime leather accoutrements. This attribution is based on comparison with known examples.
The frog remains in excellent overall condition, retaining strong structure and good shape. All stitching is tightly intact, and the frog retains the four original steel rivets, all present and secure. The leather shows minor service wear, with no cracking, damage, or weakness. Overall, this is a better-than-average example and would pair well with a good condition K98 bayonet.
Overall
A genuine, untouched WWII-period K98 leather frog, clearly dated and place-marked, with a partially legible maker stamp. An honest and solid example suitable for completing or upgrading a K98 bayonet set.
