Description

This is probably the best condition police bayonet I’ve come across in over 20 years and it would be very hard to upgrade.

The blade is in absolutely stunning condition. No damage or wear and tear. The maker on the blade reads E.&.F. HORSTER.SOLINGEN, the other side shows the well known Horster logo.

The antler grip plates are in perfect condition along with the silvered grip eagle, both showing no signs of wear. The hilt and cross guards are fine nickel examples and show excellent detailing to the eagles head and to the over lapping of the oak leaves. The hilt has a rifle retaining button that is in good working order. The cross guard is stamped S.D. V11. 170. which matches the numbers stamped on the reverse of the upper scabbard mount. We like to see this as it tells us both dagger and scabbard have lived together.

The scabbard shell is nice and straight and made of thin black leather. The bottom nickel scabbard mount is in excellent condition with scalloped edges and held fast by staples.

To complete this dress dagger we have an excellent condition frog and knot which are both the correct type for this piece.

A fine example which would be hard to beat.
