Description
Here we have one of the finest NSKK daggers we have encountered in quite some time, complete with its own display case.
The blade is absolutely stunning, with full cross-grain running the entire length of the blade on both sides. The “Alles For Deutschland” is beautifully etched with a dark background. The maker on the blade is “SMF” which is a scarce maker and ranked as a six on the McSarr chart.
The wooden grip is in excellent condition showing no signs of damage, with the nickle eagle and SA rune perfectly inlaid into the grip. The cross-guards and nut are in fine shape and are full nickle fittings. The “Gau” mark on the reverse of the lower cross-guard is “Ho” “Hochland” and positioned in the upper right corner, typical for this group mark.
The scabbard remains undented and retains 95% of its original black paint. We can see glimpses of the original brown anodised scabbard through minor scratches in the black paint, which I find interesting and think adds to the history of the item. The scabbard fittings are full nickle, matching the same colour as the cross-guards, with all four screws intact. The lower scabbard fitting has taken an impact to the ball, but luckily it has kept its shape well.
The dagger fits the scabbard perfectly and is presented in a well-made padded display case, with a gold SA emblem on the top. please note the display case is modern and not war time.
This is a great example.
