Description
A vivid and deeply personal glimpse into life on the WW2 Home Front, capturing the courage and chaos faced by London’s Auxiliary Fire Service during the Blitz. First published in 1942, this title captures the intensity, danger and camaraderie of London’s fire crews as they battled nightly air raids, making it a fantastic piece of Civil Defence history and a very collectible wartime publication.
This example retains its original paper sleeve, which is still present but shows some tearing as visible in the photographs. To help preserve it, the book is supplied in a separate protective cellophane sleeve — this is a modern addition and not original to the piece. Importantly, the book itself is in very good condition for its age. The pages are complete with no tears or missing sections, and there are no written annotations throughout the text. The only writing present is a neat period name and date inscription on the inside cover, which adds a nice personal touch without detracting from the readability or display appeal.
A strong, honest example of a classic WW2 Home Front title, ideal for collectors of Civil Defence material, AFS history, or those looking to add a characterful and well-preserved wartime book to their collection.
