Helmets bearing these markings are seldom encountered and represent an excellent addition to any Home Front or Civil Defence collection.

Shell

The helmet retains the majority of its original black factory finish, displaying honest service w The shell is maker marked BMB and dated 1939, providing an excellent matched combination with the liner.

Liner & Chinstrap

The original liner is complete and in very good condition, retaining the desirable early cruciform padding. It is clearly marked BMB, size 7, and dated 1939, matching the shell. The original chinstrap is present and remains in very good condition, completing an increasingly difficult-to-find untouched wartime set.

Overall

A genuine and increasingly scarce John Bull Fire Brigade helmet, complete with matching 1939 BMB shell and liner. Examples with matching wartime components are becoming much harder to find, making this a superb display piece for the serious collector of British Home Front, Civil Defence or wartime firefighting equipment.
