Description
The mothers cross was instituted by Adolf Hitler on the 16th December 1938 as a propaganda tool to encourage large families and celebrate motherhood in accordance with the Nazi ideology of promoting Aryan heritage.
This example is the miniature mothers cross in gold, which is a smaller replica of the full-sized decoration. It is the shape of a cross with blue enamel and white boarders, featuring a swastika in the centre with the inscription “Der deutschen Mutter” (To the German Mother). On the reverse it reads, “16 December 1938” and signed Adolf Hitler.
The condition of this example is superb, retaining 100% of the gold plating, with all enamel intact and complete with original ribbon and pin.
To finish this item off it comes in its original box, which is maker marked on the inside lid “LDO”. These box’s are rare and hard to come by.
An excellent example.
