The RAD long service medal in bronze was awarded for four years service in the RAD, (National Labour service). This is an early bronze medal, which is rather heavy compared to later examples.
The logo on the front is a swastika in a spade above barley ears, indicating it was for male members. Female members of the RAD were issued the same medal but with out the spade being present on the medal. The reverse side is embossed with “Fur treue Dienste im Reichs Arbeits-dienst” (For Loyal Service in the National Labour service).
The medal appears to have never been cleaned, which many collectors will appreciate, and it comes with its original blue ribbon.
