Description

The Volksempfanger, (people’s receiver) was a line of radios developed at the request of Reich Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels. The goal was to create affordable radios to ensure that Adolf Hitler’s voice and Nazi propaganda reached the living rooms of as many Germans as possible. By the start of WW2, approximately 12.5 million Volksempfanger radios had been sold.

This particular radio, made of bakelite, is in excellent condition. It appears complete with all original components, except for the plug. These radios were produced in various sizes, with this compact version being more popular among collectors. The number 301 in the model’s title is a reference to the 30th January 1933, the day after Hitler seized power in Germany.

This is a excellent piece of German propaganda social history and would make for a great display item.
