Description
These boxes were made from brass containing a number of gifts and was often referred to as the “smokers gift”. Opening the simple hinged lid, you’d see twenty cigarettes in a yellow monogrammed wrapper, an ounce of pipe tobacco, a pipe, a Christmas card and a photograph of Princess Mary. It was also meant to contain a tinder lighter but shortages meant that it was often substituted and in the Navy, a type of bullet pencil was often included in place of the lighter.
This box, being brass has light tarnishing all over, but the hinge works flawlessly and it’s not difficult to open or close. Included, is the yellow monogrammed wrapper for 20 cigarettes. There’s a slight rip to the wrapper but other than that it’s in great condition. There are no significant dents to the tin either and given how collectable these tins are, and all their variants, this one is a must-have.
